Rangers hero reckons James Tavernier may have had his WORST performance for club in Seville

James Tavernier may have had his WORST game in a Rangers top against Frankfurt.

That's the verdict of Light Blues hero Derek Johnstone as he reflected on last night's Europa League final defeat in Seville.

Rangers lost out 5-4 on penalties after Kevin Trapp saved Aaron Ramsey's spot-kick in the shootout.

The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of football with Joe Aribo scoring for the Ibrox men.

Johnstone looked back on the game and revealed he was 'gutted' by the outcome.

And he claimed Rangers skipper Tavernier put in his poorest performance for the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I'm gutted this morning to be perfectly honest.

"If you are outplayed by the opposition and beaten 3-0, you can put your hands up and say 'you couldn't ask for anymore'.

"We didn't have enough players on the night, I felt, that played to their best ability.

"You are looking for the quality players in the side to lead and go forward and get everybody going.

"Sadly, James Tavernier probably had his worst game in a Rangers top.

"He's been absolutely brilliant, but on the day that you need him, it didn't happen.

"Ryan Kent was hardly seen. We didn't really have anything up front, there wasn't a lot of punch up front to get us the goals."
