Kris Boyd has hailed Billy Gilmour's move to Brighton as an opportunity to really kick-start his career.
The former Rangers youngster made a deadline day switch from Chelsea to the Seagulls as he begins a new chapter in his career at the English Premier League outfit. The midfielder found chances hard to come by at Stamford Bridge and the Blues have now let him leave for a fee rumoured to be in the £9-10million bracket.
Last season he spent time on loan at Norwich City with the Canaries suffering the drop from the top flight in England. Sky Sports pundit Boyd believes that was the wrong move for the player but reckons the playing style under Graham Potter will suit him to the ground. He reckons Brighton have made an 'excellent addition' in the shape of the midfielder - with his move also good news for Steve Clarke and the Tartan Army.

Boyd said: "For whatever reason I don't think Norwich was the right move last year. They were always going to be struggling.
"Now we see Billy Gilmour going into a team, he is not going to go straight into it that's for sure because of the form Brighton have shown, but he will go in there. The manager Graham Potter has done really well and it is an opportunity to kick-start his career.
"Gilmour is an excellent addition for them [Brighton] and someone who will suit into that style of play. We know how good Brighton's recruitment has been over the years.
"That continues to be the case."
Gilmour has penned a four-year deal with Brighton and nets his former club Rangers a windfall from the transfer.
