RANGERS have guaranteed a tasty pay day bonus for reaching the play-offs of the Champions League.
Last night the Light Blues defeated Union Saint-Gilloise 3-0 to progress to the next qualifying round 3-2 on aggregate.
The celebrations inside the stadium were wild after the dramatic turnaround.
But the game was not the only reason for Rangers to celebrate.
UEFA pays out the equivalent of £4.22million to teams who reach the play-off round, but fail to progress to the group stages of Europe's elite competition.
Teams who do progress from the play-offs of course rake in £40million.
So while there's a huge gulf in the amounts, should Rangers lose in the next round and drop into the Europa League, they will at least have something to soften the blow.
Point 1.1 of a UEFA circular sent out to clubs in July states: "A total of €30m will be paid out to clubs involved in the UCL play-offs: clubs that are eliminated will each receive a fixed payment of €5m.
"The winners of the play-offs will not receive any specific payment for this round as they will receive payments for participating in the UCL group stage."
Rangers will face PSV at Ibrox next week in the first leg of their play-off, before travelling for the return leg two-weeks later.
The Dutch side are well known to Giovanni van Bronckhorst who previously managed Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
