Rangers fans erupt into rousing song outside Glasgow theatre after show paused during fire drill

This is the moment when Rangers fans burst into rousing song outside a Scots theatre after a fire drill went off during a show.

Hundreds of supporters erupted into song after the alarm went off during the half-time interval of the Rally Roon The Rangers performance at the Pavilion in Glasgow on Saturday night. In the clip the crowd can be heard clapping and singing Rangers' anthem 'Follow Follow' on Renfield Street.

Meanwhile a fire engine can be seen driving past with flashing lights and sirens on as the supporters continue to soak up the atmosphere. Stuart Hay, who is on the cast, took the video as the buzzing actors watched on while huddled up in a lane nearby.

Speaking to the Record, Stuart said: "It was mental. It was half time at the show and we were all down in our dressing rooms before the second act.

"Weekend crowds are always wild and this one was no different, so we were just getting our heads together to go back out when we heard the fire alarm and got rushed out. I walked out the stage door to an absolute sea of people just screaming Rangers songs all over the road.

"We got escorted to a lane across from the pavilion, all still in costume, and tried to hide ourselves as best we could from the crowd as they had just totally taken over Renfield Street and were deafening."

The crowd were outside for around 15 minutes before fire crews gave the all clear for the cast and fans to return to the theatre.

Scott said: "Finally we got the message to head back in and we rushed through the crowd back in as they were still in full voice singing. It was surreal!

"I never heard what the reason was behind it but it was a false alarm. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen because it was a lot of people to get back in for the show to get back on track. But credit to the Pavilion staff, they got them all back in and we managed to get back on stage relatively quickly after we got back in."

The scenes came just hours after Rangers picked up their second Scottish Premiership win of the season with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday.

Rally Roon The Rangers is a comedy created by the same team that produced Singin' I’m No A Billy He’s A Tim. Eight die-hard fans gather for a night of booze, banter and Rangers songs - but they are plunged into a desperate bid to save The Wee Rangers Supporters Club from demolition by the council.

When all seems lost, an Ibrox disaster survivor arrives and points out the traitor in the group. During the show tributes were paid to former Rangers heroes who have recently passed away.

During one song in the performance supporters were asked to 'raise a glass' to Fernando Ricksen, Walter Smith and Jimmy Bell before the biggest cheer of the evening went up for 'The Goalie', Andy Goram.

The series of performances started on Wednesday, July 24 and will end on Saturday, August 13. However, due to "huge public demand" extra dates have now been added from Saturday, October 22 until Saturday, October 29.
