Rangers fans confront players after St Johnstone defeat as supporters angered by shock loss

Rangers fans have been spotted giving their thoughts to their players after a sobering afternoon at St Johnstone.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men fell to a 2-1 loss against Callum Davidson's and it's proved too much for some sections of the support, who are demanding the Dutch boss leaves his post. After the full-time whistle as the squad looked to board the bus back to Glasgow, they had a crowd of angry punters waiting for them as a tense walked back to their vehicle was had.

One social media clip also shows captain James Tavernier getting it tight from those gathered after Rangers fell seven points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the title race. The right-back did score on the day but a first half effort from James Brown and Nicky Clark's after the break proved too much for his team to overcome. Their next match is against Hearts at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Van Bronckhorst said to Rangers TV: "It is is very disappointing in the end to drop three points. We started excellently in the first 30 minutes.

"We should have scored the first goal and with the chances we had, we could have already killed the game. We weren't clinical enough.

"We concede the first goal and the second, and it is unacceptable in the way we concede that. St Johnstone defended deep and well and we found it difficult to create chances."
