A Rangers fan travelling to Spain to watch his team in the Europa League Final suffered a heart attack and was saved by a doctor who was also travelling to the game.
The unnamed fan, 70, was flying to Seville for the crucial match against German side Eintracht Frankfurt when he was suddenly taken ill.
Luckily for him, also on the flight was a Rangers-supporting doctor who rushed to his aid and saved his life.
A club insider told the Daily Record : "The man was kept conscious and he is okay, he's still alive.
"Obviously, he's had a heart attack so it's very serious and was a big scare for him and his family.
"Luckily there was another fan on the flight who's a doctor.
"He rushed to help him and looked after him on the flight.
"It's the best outcome everyone could have hoped for in the circumstances.
"Hopefully he is well enough to still catch the game and gets the result we are all hoping for."
More than 100,000 supporters of the Glasgow giants are expected in the Andalusian city for their first final since 2008 when they lost in Manchester to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.
Around 50,000 German fans are also thought to have made the trip despite the vast majority of both sets not having tickets for the 42,700-capacity Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Police believe they are ready for any possible trouble.
Juan Carlos Castro Estevez, Seville's commissioner for citizen security, said: "I am not worried at all. I believe our teams will be able to counteract any kind of problem that emerges, and obviously there could be some.
"Even if 150,000 fans don't come - if it's half that number or less - we will have substantial issues.
"From today there are going to be huge numbers of people in Seville."
Ticketless fans are being encouraged to watch the action from the Estadio La Cartuja which already hold happy memories for Rangers - Celtic lost to Porto in the Uefa Cup final at the ground in 2003.
Meanwhile five German fans who were arrested for attacking Rangers fans are due to be kept behind bars until after tonight's show piece tie.
The source added: "These were Frankfurt casuals attacking normal Rangers fans, just random punters.
"It was a spontaneous attack on fans they saw in the city, it wasn't a planned ambush of another hooligan group."
Rangers’ only previous European trophy came in 1972 when they beat Dynamo Moscow at the Camp Nou in Barcelona 3-2 to take home the Cup Winners’ Cup.
