Aberdeen’s move to dismiss Stephen Glass was up for discussion in a Hotline where Old Firm European ambitions were also on the agenda.
Dons fans believe it was the right move to remove their manager while some Rangers fans are convinced they have the measure of Borussia Dortmund.
William Masson, Aboyne, said: "It's a shame things ended badly for Glass, he and the club tried a different approach but it hasn’t worked. We all want our teams to play flowing football but that has to be balanced with pragmatism and a realisation that sometimes you have to win ugly."
Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: "It's crunch time for Aberdeen. A new stadium is nearly finished for a dwindling support. Interest in Scottish football is at an all-time low. Aberdeen must endeavour to return to the days of a full Pittodrie with a team challenging for major honours.
"The alternative is half empty stadiums and a yearly battle for the top six. A good exiting Aberdeen team is vital as a selling point for the Scottish Premiership so get rid of the dead wood and build the team around Lewis Ferguson and Calvin Ramsey, bring in decent players and employ a manager who has ambitions of winning and not just surviving."
John Cassidy, Bonhill, said: "After the destruction of Annan athletic at the weekend with our second string, I feel Rangers will put three or for past Dortmund on Thursday in Germany. The Germans aren't as strong as they once were. Look at Bayern Munich at the weekend – they were mince."
Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: "All this talk about Rangers beating Dortmund is nice but unrealistic, Dortmund are a top team even without Erling Haaland and for Rangers to get a result would be exceptional."
Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "I had a chuckle at the two Celtic fans who have bitten with responses to my claim of Celtic being officiated to a different standard from the rest of the league.
"I rest my case that referees are terrified of Celtic, offside goals count stonewaller penalties are waved away against them and their players are allowed to foul without any bookings"
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "It would seem that on the back of a few late winners and some very dodgy refereeing decisions in their favour lately, Celtic supporters and pundits are now touting them as quadruple trophy winners this season. I would have thought they would not want to remind anyone that once again they have already been booted out of two European cup competitions and are now embarrassingly in the Conference League which is exclusively a money spinner for failures. They are now bordering on the record of being knocked out of three different European cup competitions in one season."
Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: "You really do have to laugh at these Rangers supporters who are bragging about being on Celtic's tail and going to catch them. A few weeks ago they were six points clear and were going to romp the league. The reality is Celtic already have a trophy and are now in the lead. Just what exactly do they have to brag about?"
Bud Hay, Dumfries, said: "Celtic are now 25 games undefeated and what a player Jota is. He changed the game when he came on against Raith Rovers and is the best signing since Henrik Larsson. I don't see any Rangers fans bragging about 56 or winning the league by a 20-odd point margin, they can dream on."
John Stuart, Largs, said: "I know there are more fans of the Old Firm read Record Sport than other fans, but do we have to have the constant bickering between them every day on this page? Gordon Ashley from my home town is wittering on about Rangers and he's a Celt. Glory Hunter springs to mind, support our home team instead. How about we have an Old Firm free week on the Hotline . No mention of them please."
We let the public decide on that one, John.
John McInally, Maryhill, said: "I was at the Patrick Thistle game at the weekend against Dundee United and I’m still angry. I work for the council and if I under performed like the officials did then I’d be sacked or disciplined. Big teams get all the decisions."
