Rangers fan in mischief mode with loaded Celtic referee joke he wants everyone to hear – Hotline

It was the calm before the Champions League storm so Aberdeen and Kilmarnock fans took their chance to jump on the Hotline and it's fair to say they aren't too chuffed with their respective lots.

Dons fan Iain Alan, Linlithgow, emailed to urge Jim Goodwin to stiffen his defence in January. He said: "Aberdeen should be sponsored by First Group given you can drive a bus through their defence as Dundee United, Motherwell and Hibs have already proved so far this season. I don't understand why Considine, Gallagher and Bates all got shown the door. It's not nearly good enough and I hope the priority in the January transfer window is at least one decent centre back, preferably two."

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, emailed about former Dons boss Derek McInnes, saying: "I see the the president – and only member – of the Derek McInnes fan club, Hugh McKirdy, still hasn't stopped crying over the sacking of his idol by Aberdeen. Hugh, Kilmarnock is McInnes' level. He was sacked at Bristol City as well, due to the football being awful. No change there."

And Killie fan Tom Paterson, Falkirk, wasn't happy with his team chucking away a two goal lead against Hearts on Sunday. He said: "Oli Shaw's miss v Hearts coupled with his stupid foul on a Hearts player who was heading towards his own goal in the last minute contributed to the loss of two points. Take away his penalty goals and his scoring rate is pitiful for a supposed striker. One on one with a keeper - about 5 per cent success rate – if that."

Naturally, there were Old Firm calls. Davie Knox, Queen’s Park, said: "It didn’t take long from ‘we never stop’ to 'my players are tired after playing two games a week' excuses from Ange Postecoglou. Rangers have been doing this his entire tenure and that together with favourable refereeing decisions are the only reasons his team won the league last year."

Jake Curley, Edinburgh, said: "I see we’re back to the same old same old Celtic this season. 'When are you going to blow for full time ref?' 'Soon as Celtic score the winner, son.'

Steve McSherry, Uddingston, said: "It’s got to the point that referees are no longer disguising their help towards Rangers. Nick Walsh’s penalty award against St Mirren was unbelievable. To be fair to the Rangers players they never claimed it but it had a big influence on the outcome. Roll on VAR."

But Hibs fan John Scott, Grassmoore, said: "Like Andy Scott in Edinburgh we can all play around with stats. Here's mine: Since 00/01 Celtic have been awarded 144 penalties, Rangers 119 and Hibs 85. These are penalties awarded in the SPFL only. Celtic averaged 6.54 per season, Rangers 6.61 and the Hibees 4.47. While it dispels the myth that referees are biased against either of the Old Firm clubs it leaves a huge question over Hibs. That being if the Hibees get a penalty they cheated but if Rangers or Celtic get a questionable decision it's down to bias and the incompetence of officials."

Kenny Goff emailed: "Celtic and Rangers fans unfurl all these huge banners at their games, but a simple question is: how do these people get them into the stadiums? Obviously stewards etc must be turning a blind eye to all this, or are they hiding them in the stadium the night before?"
