Rangers Europa League final photoshoot as Alex Lowry dreams of Seville chance

It's been quite the week for Uddingston teen Alex Lowry.

The Rangers midfielder got the party started in the Ibrox dressing room last Thursday night after the club beat RB Leipzig to book their place in next week's Europa League final and just days later the rising star signed a contract extension, keeping him at Ibrox until at least 2025.

On Sunday he celebrated his new deal with an impressive 25 minute cameo in Rangers' Scottish Premiership victory over Dundee United in the Govan sunshine.

And now the 18-year-old is dreaming of sunny Spain as the Gers gear up for their showpiece final with Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville.

The magnitude of Rangers' achievement will have sunk in that little bit more yesterday as the players posed for the official UEFA photoshoot ahead of next Wednesday's match with the German side at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Lowry lapped up the moment with his team-mates as every member of the squad was pictured in the club's home kit, suggesting Gio van Bronckhorst's men will wear their home kit despite fears of a colour clash with the Bundesliga outfit who are the designated home team for the final.

The midfielder has been able to savour many of Rangers' big European nights this season, having been a regular in the squad during the run to Seville.

Although yet to make a European outing, he featured in squad for the last 16 home leg win against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 32, and both matches in their last 16 triumph over Red Star Belgrade and quarter-final win over Braga, while being involved during both of the semi-final clashes against Leipzig.

Being part of the squad for Rangers' first European final will be a career high for sure and last week he admitted it was factor in his decision to stay at Ibrox, saying: Now he wants to build on his five appearances in 2022 at top flight level with the Light Blues.

He said: "You can see where the club is going. We are in a European final in Seville. That was definitely a key point.

"And just the fan base, everything about the club, I have loved it since I was young. I didn’t really want to go anywhere else.

"Now that the contract’s out of the way, I can concentrate solely on my football."
