Rangers face a huge week in Europe but all eyes are already on next Sunday’s Premiership showdown at Celtic Park.
The Hoops have one hand on the title after digging deep at Ross County but Gers are not giving up the fight as they survived a red card to see off Motherwell.
David Bryce, Troon, said: “ Celtic dug that victory out against Ross County. We played well in the first half.
“Kyogo is a sensational footballer however he misses far too many sitters. Cameron Carter-Vickers was again immense along with Tony Ralston and Jota had his best game in ages. That was a very important victory.”
Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: “The thought of Celtic dropping points was always a possibility after Celtic losing to Rangers. However Ange Postecoglou’s very own cup final was against Ross County and Celtic can play with more freedom at Parkhead next week knowing they are almost over the line.”
Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “Well done to the champions elect for rubbing Barry Ferguson and Kris Boyd’s noses in it, along with all the other dreamers who questioned our guts.
“Not one Rangers player would get in our first XI because they are bottle merchants.”
Some Gers fans still fancy their chances though after last week's success at Hampden and John Bruce, Glasgow, said: “Celtic players were dropping like flies. They showed that they don't have a strong bench to call on and they no longer have the luxury of playing cannon-fodder teams now that they will only be playing top-six sides.
“The pressure is on and it looks like Gio van Bronckhorst has his stable of champion thoroughbreds peaking at exactly the right time, ready to sprint for the finishing line.”
John Davidson, Armadale, said: “Well, well, well. Nice to see the Rangers second string pulling off a result with 10 men for over an hour, to keep interest in the title race.”
Meanwhile Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “If Connor Goldson wants to leave then let him. Thank him for his service, with no begging to stay.
“He is a decent player but if he doesn’t want to be at Ibrox? So be it. We are on the way up.”
Aberdeen are not safe yet after another dismal defeat.
Hugh McKirdy emailed: “I hope Dave Cormack is satisfied with his stewardship of the club so far.
“I've followed Aberdeen for 42 years and it's the most disjointed, abysmal Aberdeen team I've ever seen.
“I still can't fathom why Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty were dispensed with.”
The Dons got another painful reminder with their old boss leading Kilmarnock to the Championship title.
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Kilmarnock did a Burke and Hare job on Arbroath to snatch the championship title and return Derek McInnes' team back into the top flight in their first season.
“Aberdeen will not be relishing the prospect of facing their former manager, who was pushed out the door and now it will come back to bite them on the backside.
“Praise goes to Billy Bowie for having faith in McInnes after a ropey start.”
Gordon McIlwraith, Kilmarnock, said: “I'm absolutely delighted for the board, the manager, players and fans that Killie have gained promotion back in to the Premiership at the first time of asking. McInnes has been a great managerial appointment.”
Still up north, Scottish refs copped it again at the weekend as Alan McPherson, Cullen Moray, said: “Another Saturday with more evidence of the incompetence, the performance of Grant Irvine at Pittodrie was the worst I have seen this season.
“As for VAR, my reason for opposing its introduction is the ability, or inability, of our officials to operate this extremely technical equipment.”
John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “Many a Hibs fan would agree wholeheartedly with Kris Boyd’s view that our officials lack consistency in their decision making.
“A bit like his inconsistent views when he fails to comment on stonewall penalties and bad tackles his favourites get away with. There's another word he could use. 'Hypocrisy'."
Dundee boss Mark McGhee didn’t need to get his kit off as promised but Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “I would urge McGhee to keep his clothes on when going into Dens Park on Monday.
“He would look extremely stupid picking up his P45 with nothing on.
“A total embarrassment who should never have been brought in. Gordon Strachan should go as well and real football people brought in for next year's Championship fight.”
