Rangers defender Leon King addresses future amid Leeds United transfer links

Rangers defender Leon King has refused to pay attention to transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Ibrox. The 18-year-old has been been subject to interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Leeds, Manchester United and Newcastle.

King has enjoyed an extraordinary breakthrough season in Glasgow - amassing 12 appearances across all competitions, including four in the UEFA Champions League and six in the Scottish Premiership.

His spell in the first team looks set to continue with defender Connor Goldson expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. The Rangers academy product insists that his full focus is on his current employers, and says that he has dreams of playing for his boyhood club long into the future.

“To be honest, I just concentrate on the job I have here. I do not pay attention to anything that is outside these gates and four walls," King told Football Scotland.

“Again, I’d like to stay at Rangers for as long as possible. But that’s up to the folk off the pitch. I have representatives that deal with that.

“I’ve supported Rangers all my life, so to pull the jersey on and play in front of the fans at Ibrox is amazing. It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of. I hope it continues."

Leeds, Newcastle and Man United are all reported to have sent scouts to watch King in action for Rangers this season. King is out of contract in 2024 but Giovanni van Bronckhorst claimed last week that he was unaware of any interest from England.
