Ross Wilson is Nottingham Forest's preferred candidate to become their next sporting director, according to a report.
The Premier League club are said to be "in contact" with the Rangers to secure a deal according to The Athletic.
Forrest sacked their sporting director Filippo Giraldi today. A statement read: "Nottingham Forest’s Sporting Director, Filippo Giraldi, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
"He leaves the Club amicably with our best wishes.
"Filippo would like to place on record his thanks to the Club and wishes Nottingham Forest best of luck for the future."
Wilson has worked in England before with Huddersfield and Southampton in background roles focusing on recruitment. He arrived at Rangers in 2019, taking the reins from Mark Allen.
Forest are said to have been on the train of Wilson for some time as they look to stabilise after signing 22 players in the summer and seven more in the January window.
They sit in 18th place in the Premier League but are confident a deal can be struck with Rangers' board to bring Wilson to the Midlands.
