Derek McInnes has revealed Rangers contacted the Scottish FA over Mika Baur's tackle on Ryan Naderi last weekend.
The Ibrox striker was left with an ankle knock following the challenge. McInnes stated the forward's ankle was "a mess" with the player a doubt for this weekend.
Rangers chief executive Jim Gillespie has spoke to Willie Collum over the incident, which was not recommended for an on-field review. Baur was not booked.
McInnes branded the tackle as "poor" as he admitted he found it "strange" for no VAR intervention to take place.
He said: "Jim Gillespie spoke to Willie Collum and the SFA about it, really not happy with the challenge.
"I'm not going to get caught up in referee chat. I am surprised that the referee wasn't asked to look at that. I find it strange that he wasn't.
"Ryan's ankle is a mess, it was a mess, it was a poor challenge.
"Sometimes these challenges can happen but it didn't look great to be honest.
"Ryan is one of two players who is a wee bit of a doubt for the game on Sunday, but I don't want to get bogged down in referee chat to be honest."
