A RANGERS co-owner has been sentenced to jail and fined after he was arrested at a trailer park in the United States on suspicion of paying £100 for sex through a prostitution website.
Jed York, who is also the co-owner of Leeds United and the owner of NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers, was arrested on Sunday at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine, Ohio.
The 46-year-old reportedly pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools on Tuesday.
A no contest plea means a defendant accepts the conviction and punishment without an admission of guilt.
He was sentenced to a day in jail for each count, which was served concurrently, and fined a total of £873.
The dad-of-two was initially arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution, but the charge was amended to disorderly conduct, according to reports confirmed by the NFL.
A police report requested by American news outlet WKBN simply read: “On August 23, 2026, the East Palestine Police Department assisted the MVHTTF on the arrest of John York.”
The San Francisco 49ers said in a statement: “As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
An NFL statement read: “We are aware of the matter, which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.”
York became chief operating officer of the San Francisco 49ers in 2008 and principal owner of the team in 2024.
A 49ers Enterprises-led consortium took over Rangers in May last year.
