Rangers caller warns Celtic fans they're RIGHT to fear Ibrox penalty sickener - Hotline

Gordon Parks 1 Michael Gannon 0

It’s not often our bold Parksy gets one over on any of us but his column on Dundee hit the spot with one Hotliner, while Mick’s take on the Reo Hatate incident across the road at Tannadice on Monday night didn’t go down well with another caller.

Andrew Lamb in Fraserburgh emailed: “Excellent piece by Gordon Parks re Dundee FC, and chairman John Nelms. The appointment of wee Gordon Strachan was the start of the end, then add Mark McGhee, and you have a complete shambles. Ronnie Swan in Lochee please note, the REAL clown show is currently at Dens, not Tannadice.“

But Christopher Currie, Ayrshire, emailed: “Michael Gannon bracketing the Reo Hatate tackle on Kieran Freeman in the same mould as Butcher’s tackle on David Turnbull takes away any credibility he might think he has. Butcher on Turnbull was a potential leg breaker…Hatate barely made contact with Freeman’s studs and was pulling his foot away.”

Also on that game, Kenny Goff emailed: “Having watched the Dundee Utd v Celtic game, their first goal was a deflection, the second goal a keeper mistake and the third goal was an own goal. Yes, Celtic did do fabulous with each player carrying a rabbit’s foot in their shorts.”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, claimed: “I actually thought Hatate was going to be red carded and if he did he shouldn’t have any complaints as it was rash, but can football bosses explain a lot better the handball leading up to the goal that was disallowed as there is still a bit of confusion? Either that or get the pen out again and re-write the rule so EVERYONE can understand it.”

But Arrin Geddes, Irvine , said: “Are all the Hotline Rangers fans trying to get a job on Sportscene? All they talk about is refereeing decisions in Celtic games. Celtic were very good again on Monday night and Ange is right, nobody wants to talk football, maybe because their team can only play well on a Thursday night.”

John Wilson emailed: “If VAR was in this season, Rangers would be coasting this league unless Ian Bankier was the VAR ref.”

And Derek Hay, Fife emailed: “I must be a cheat as I can’t stand VAR. The only thing in football should be goal-line technology. Despite having VAR in the EPL, they still thought Newcastle shouldn’t have had a penalty at the weekend and the Brighton goalie should not have been shown a red. It’s a nonsense.”

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “Now that they don’t have Scott Brown to get Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos deliberately sent off with his underhand cheating antics it’s obvious the Celtic supporters on here are terrified of the Rangers pair. We have had comments of being worried already about Kent’s penalty box flick trick in the upcoming three games. Well, they should be worried because if they foul the Rangers pair in the box it will be a penalty though that can’t be guaranteed with the appalling referees we have.”

George Fairgrieve emailed: “My 4 year old grand-son asked me “what is a penalty?”. I told him I would have to take him to a Rangers game if he wanted to see one as they’re experiencing an epidemic of them.”

Stuart McLeod, Stepps, said: “I just don’t think certain Celtic fans can see what is in front of them. They spend the first five months of the season complaining about refereeing decisions then when results and decisions go their way they don’t want others to complain.

“In fact a regular ‘Rangers expert’ wants his club to contact UEFA because he believes intimidation is in play unlike his own club’s AGM propaganda in December. Funny how all the Celtic fans had an opinion on the disallowed goal at Tannadice but nothing to say about the Hatate red card incident.”

Finally, Alan Lough, Dunbar, isn’t a happy man. He said: “Man Utd are an embarrassment and I’m ashamed that this club I’ve supported all my life have turned into the joke that they are. Pathetic to watch.”
