Rangers are BACK and Hearts hammering was better than anything overhyped Celtic have done - Hotline

Goals galore for both Old Firm teams at the weekend highlighted the gulf between the big two and the rest of the Premiership.

But it also served to give Celtic and Rangers fans ammunition for some tit for tat in a title race which continues to be nip and tuck.

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: "Rangers are my team and we easily won last season's title, however, it's hats off to Celtic for providing a real challenge this year. Two teams playing some good stuff, what's not to like? Instead I am forced to read drivel about SFA bias, bent referees, and fear factors that are pie in the sky. Sit back, play the games and enjoy. Well done Celtic for providing a challenge, now let's see how the season plays out."

Lance Little, Erskine, said: "It's great to see all the usual suspects amongst the Rangers fans crowing about looking forward to meeting Celtic again. After the battering their team received last Wednesday, they think a win against an understrength Hearts team suggests they can win next time. Their team were chasing shadows against Celtic and only a good display by their keeper prevented a cricket score."

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "It was comical stuff from Hotline caller Colin McArdle who said Celtic will be a major threat in the Champions League. Can I remind him their level is the Conference League.

"It’s the usual over the top nonsense from Celtic supporters who already think the title is won and can’t see their team can’t last out for 90 minutes as they fade badly in the second half.

"They beat Rangers fair and square because Rangers were appalling on the night but Rangers performance against Hearts was back on track and better than anything Celtic have done recently."

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: "Rangers fans are back to their usual bragging ways just cause they beat a Hearts team which lay down to them. Celtic proved how ordinary they are and we are looking better with every game. We welcome the chase."

Ian Renton, Johnstone, said: "I am delighted that Rangers have finally stopped their regular 30 second passing drills across the back four during matches and decided it is better to pass the ball quicker to their attackers. The result was five goals in one game."

John Bruce, emailed: "Rangers were back to their ruthless and relentless best against Hearts. They played fast, flowing football with tricks and flicks that Johan Cruyff would have been proud of. This was a reminder of how the team can perform when most of the players are available. The return of those players made a huge difference to the team and the addition of Aaron Ramsey can only make this side even better."

Ian McDonald, Innerleithen, said: "Once again Robbie Neilson's lack of bottle cost us. I wonder when Hearts will ever pass Harthill and attack instead of heading to the toilet."

Davy Cook, Restalrig, said: "If Hearts want to finish third in the Premiership this season then they need to up their game big time.

"It was a very poor performance against a second-rate Rangers team."

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: "Maybe it’s time Scottish football let the Old Firm go and play in another league. There’s such a gulf in class between them and everyone else it’s embarrassing."

Paul Price, Belfast, said: "Celtic fans were critical of the board in the past and rightly so but whoever found big Ange deserves great credit. The board must move now to get him tied down long term as the man is a gem."

Seamie Gallagher, Glasgow, said: "I'm running short on superlatives for this demolition team that are Celtic. Many thought we would falter at Fir Park, but incredibly, we even surpassed many opinions. Slick and professional are just a few of the superlatives I could use."

Alan Mcgaw, Alloa, said: "After a shocking performance at Ross County it was a fantastic reaction from Rangers on Sunday. Man of the Match Alfredo Morelos showed what we were missing up front. It was his best game this season with Ryan Jack back again bringing stability in midfield. It’s good to see the commitment and passion shown on the pitch with up Hibs next."
