Rangers and the 'curtains' for Van Bronckhorst scenario as John Hartson tips Celtic gap increase

John Hartson can see Celtic extending their gap over Rangers in the title race - and that will have to come with a change in leadership if it does happen according to Craig Moore.

The former Parkhead and Ibrox figures have been discussing Light Blues boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst's future after a shock 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone on Sunday. It leaves them seven points off Ange Postecoglou's champions with games against Hearts and St Mirren to come before the World Cup break.

There's also three more derby matches to follow, with the next coming up in January. Amid waning performances though, Celtic hero Hartson told Go Radio he can see it getting ever worse for van Bronckhorst: "Giovanni has come out and said Rangers can still win the title. He's obviously going to say that, he wants to keep his job, he has to tell his players they can still do it. But the way Celtic are playing... it's still very early. Celtic never stop and they keep going. They have great belief.

"It already seems a long way back after 13 games for Rangers. The board will maybe leave it until the World Cup and if it stays the same, I can see the gap getting ever further."

Former Rangers defender Moore pulled no punches with his reply: "If it stretches then it's curtains, it has to be. Nobody likes to see anybody lose their job. He still has time as the board seem to have given him support.

"Going into the break without losing any more points is a must. I can't emphasise the importance of the next Old Firm game as that will have a big factor in whether he's going to be there longer term or not."
