Rangers could learn a thing or two with how Celtic have approached the contract renewals of their key stars, according to former captain Barry Ferguson.
The Light Blues face a situation this season where they could lose top assets Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent for £0, with both in the final 12 months of their contracts. With years to run on their terms, they would be worth millions in potential player sales but Rangers look set to miss out if nothing has be agreed in January or by next summer.
Overall there are 10 players at Ibrox in the final months of their deals, with Celtic moving swiftly last year to cash in on Ryan Christie, Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard when they were in similar situations. Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou is happy to sell up at the right price and Rangers hero Ferguson tells Go Radio that's the correct stance.

He said: "That is their trading model. It has been that way for a number of years, and they don't allow anybody to go into the final year of their contract if they are a big player who is worth a lot of money.
"It looks to me as if he thinks one or two players might go for a fair bit of money, then he always has a back up plan. He will identify players to come in. That is what Rangers have tried to do over the last number of years.
"They have done it with Nathan Patterson, they have done it with Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey. They were lucky with Connor Goldson, because he ran his contract right down.
"But they are in a sticky situation at this moment in time with Ryan Kent and Morelos. I don't think Celtic would allow that to happen, for a player to go into the final year of their contract."
