The Ibrox men are now officially out of the competition with two matchdays to play but all is not lost yet with a spot in the Europa League and third place in the group section still to play for. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men got off to the perfect start with a stunning goal from Scott Arfield but Roberto Firmino showed his class with two goals and a sublime assist as the Reds made it back to back Battle of Britain wins over the Light Blues. Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott and a hat-trick off the bench from Mo Salah secured a big 7-1 triumph.
In a double blow, the hosts also lost ever-present Connor Goldson to injury in the first half. The stopper had played every minute of the Champions League and Premiership campaign up until his early departure at Ibrox. Ryan Jack also hobbled off just before the hour mark.
