Ranchi Jamshedpur: Lightning kills 2 in East S’bhum

JAMSHEDPUR: Two elderly woman of a family were killed after they were struck by lightning at Rai Basa village under Chakulia block of East Singhbhum district on Friday.

Chakulia police station in charge Avinash Kumar said, “Damini Nayak (65) and Sandhya Nayak (65) were working in the paddy fields and tending to goats when lightning struck the Syam Sundarpur area.”

Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas in Kolhan division received heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning on Friday afternoon. The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department, Jamshedpur, recorded 50 mm rain till 6 pm. tnn
