Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' cleared by CBFC with 'A' certificate; director Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirms film's 3-hour runtime

The anticipation surrounding Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film, 'Animal' is only building by the day. As the film gets ready for its December 1 release, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, on Thursday revealed that the film has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an 'A' certificate.

The director, in a tweet also coonfirmed rumours that the film will have a staggering runtime of more than 3 hours, making it the longest RK starrer.

Vanga took to Twitter to share the news with fans, stating, "Censor rating for ANIMAL is A :-) 3 hour 21 minutes 23 seconds & 16 frames is the Runtime :-) #AnimalTheFilm Releasing on Dec 1st @VangaPictures @TSeries (sic)."

'Animal' delves into the intricate father-son relationship. The film that stars Ranbir in the lead, also boasts an ensemble cast, including Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna.

The tweet confirms a recent rumour that suggested that the film with its runtime of 3 hours and 21 minutes, is now one of the longest Bollywood films to date. Previously, the record for the longest film in Ranbir's filmography belonged to the musical 'Jagga Jasoos,' which had a runtime of 3 hours.

According to reports, the makers of 'Animal' had been targetting an 'A' certificate, given its intense scenes of violence and gore, that cater to an audience aged 18 and above.

Vanga, known for his previous Bollywood ventures like 'Kabir Singh,' was originally eyeing an August release for the film. However, due to scheduling conflicts and the release of other major movies like Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2,' Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2,' and Rajinikanth's 'Jailer', the director decided to postpone the release to December 1.

Despite delaying the release, 'Animal' is set to clash with Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur'. While one is an all-out action entertainer, the other is a biopic.
