Rams vs. Raiders: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Los Angeles Rams are hosting the Las Vegas Raiders tonight, though it’s unclear who they’ll start at quarterback. It could be any of three players: John Wolford, Bryce Perkins or Baker Mayfield.

Despite not knowing who will be under center, the Rams are big underdogs regardless. This will be another difficult game for them without Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald and several others, but they’re desperate to snap their six-game losing streak.

Advice and prediction

The Rams and Raiders haven’t played since 2018, so it’s not as if recent history gives one team an edge over the other. But recent weeks in the 2022 season tell us the Raiders are very clearly the better team.

They’ve won three games in a row, including two in overtime, and are clawing their back way into the AFC playoff hunt. The Rams are, well, way out of it in the NFC.

The Rams don’t match up horribly with the Raiders, whose strength is their running game with Josh Jacobs. Los Angeles is actually good against the run, but that may not be the case with Donald and A’Shawn Robinson out.

If Jacobs plays (he’s questionable), I think this game ends up being slightly low scoring with both teams trying to run the ball – the Raiders because they’re good at it, and the Rams because their quarterback play is terrible.

None of the Rams’ three quarterbacks give them a great chance to win, but throwing Mayfield into the fire two days after arriving would probably not yield great results.

This is a game the Raiders will probably win, and I think they cover the 6.5-point spread, which has crept up from 5.5 to start the week.

Prediction: Raiders 24, Rams 16

Best bet: Raiders -6.5
