Advice and prediction
This is a tough spot for the Rams. They’re coming off an emotional win over the Raiders, a somewhat miraculous comeback in Baker Mayfield’s first game with the team – just two days after being claimed by Los Angeles off waivers. They’ve had extra time to rest after playing on Thursday night in Week 14, but the Packers have been off even longer.
Green Bay had a bye in Week 14 and should come into this game as fresh as it has all year. The only injury concern is Bakhtiari, who’s out with knee and abdomen injuries. Otherwise, everyone else is good to go – including Aaron Jones.
The biggest weakness of this Packers team is its run defense, but unfortunately for the Rams, running the ball has been a major struggle all year. Relying heavily on Mayfield in his second game with the team isn’t wise so I would expect the Rams to try to lean on the running game in frigid conditions at Lambeau Field.
That’s part of the reason I like the Under in this one, too. Both teams should skew their offenses toward the run, leading to a lower-scoring game. And ultimately, the Packers’ ground game is better than the Rams’, and when Green Bay does throw it, Aaron Rodgers has an edge at quarterback over Mayfield.
The Rams will keep it competitive throughout the night before the Packers pull away in the fourth.
Prediction: Packers 21, Rams 13
Best bets: Packers -7, Under 39.5
