While most of the NFL was in action on Thursday and Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams got the week off for their bye, taking some time to rest and recover from a tough start to the year.
The other three NFC West teams were among those playing in Week 6 and fortunately for the Rams, they didn’t lose any ground in the division. In fact, the Rams are actually closer to the top of the NFC West than they were last week despite not playing.
That’s because the 49ers beat the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, and the Cardinals were blown out by the Packers at Lambeau Field. Entering Week 6, the Rams were two games back of the Seahawks, who were 3-2 at the time. Now, they’re only 1.5 games back of the 49ers, who are tied with the Seahawks at 3-3 atop the division.
- 49ers: 3-3
- Seahawks: 3-3
- Cardinals: 2-4
- Rams: 1-4
As frustrating and disappointing as the Rams’ first five weeks were, they’re far from out of it in the NFC West. They’ve already beaten the 49ers once and still have two games left against the Seahawks, so a season sweep of both teams would do wonders for Sean McVay’s squad.
They did lose to the Cardinals in Week 2 but Arizona doesn’t look like a legitimate contender anymore after losing three of their last four games. The season isn’t close to being over yet and with every team in the division showing some serious flaws, no one is going to run away with the crown.
