Earlier this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams signed Sean McVay to a contract extension, ensuring he’ll remain the team’s head coach for the foreseeable future. On Thursday, just before starting the 2022 season, they agreed to a deal with general manager Les Snead.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reports the extension will make Snead one of the highest-paid GMs in football, which he more than deserves after leading the Rams to two Super Bowls, one of which he won. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also reports McVay will be one of the highest-paid coaches.
The Rams officially announced the contract, along with McVay’s deal – which hadn’t previously been announced by the team – keeping the two of them together in Los Angeles through the 2026 season.
“We have been engineering a special team, organization and culture at the Rams, and we have been doing it with special people,” said Snead in a statement. “I look forward to continuing our mission and I’m especially appreciative of Stan for giving us the opportunity to do so.”
Snead has been the team’s general manager since 2012 and previously signed an extension in 2019 after the Rams’ first Super Bowl appearance during his tenure. His aggressive roster-building strategy helped Los Angeles land stars such as Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford, Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters, Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. over the years.
With Snead and McVay now locked in for years to come, the Rams’ Super Bowl window remains wide open – so long as Aaron Donald, Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Ramsey are in the mix.
