Australia's Tory Taylor and his Bears have missed out on a historic NFC championship clash, going down to the Los Angeles Rams 20-17 in a gripping overtime encounter in Chicago.

The Rams' divisional round win earns them a spot in the conference championship game next Monday (AEDT), where they'll face bitter rivals Seattle, who feature Sydney punter Michael Dickson in their squad.

But there could've been two Aussies in the NFC's decider, with Melburnian Taylor the Bears' punter.
