Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl says his team provided the 'answer' to a difficult week after coming from two goals behind to draw 2-2 against Leeds United at St Mary's.
Rodrigo's second half brace put Leeds two goals ahead, until Hasenhuttl's match defining substitutions preceded goals from Southampton's Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters in the final 20 minutes.
Many declared Southampton as dead and buried after the hour-mark and Hasenhuttl even eluded to the headlines that his side 'destroyed' via their fightback.
"I'm sorry that we destroyed a few headlines because they were probably written at that moment," Hasenhuttl told Daily Echo after full-time.
"The team gave the answer. We had a tough week because of some circumstances but we showed a good reaction. I expect nothing else from this fantastic group."
Sekou Mara came off the bench for his Premier League debut along with Aribo and Adam Armstrong to combine to devastating effect. Hasenhuttl's switch to a back-four also enabled Southampton to play more on the front foot.
Southampton have still collected only one win from their last 14 league matches but it was a strong response to their 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in their opening game.
Leeds didn't reach for the bench until Walker-Peters had levelled proceedings and Hasenhuttl believes his side could've even snatched it at the death.
"We had to go all in at that moment," Hasenhuttl said. "The team, although we had tough temperatures today, the team were flying, trying everything to win the game.
"We had a big chance with Sekou Mara towards the end, a good save from the goalkeeper otherwise maybe you win this game. It was a good comeback from our side."
