Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has insisted that Newcastle United's new signings' influential role in the Magpies' win against the Saints 'doesn't interest' him.
Newcastle became just the second team this season to win at St Mary's following a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Thursday night and Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Dan Burn and Matt Targett all played their part. It was Wood who equalised for the visitors with his first goal for the club - just a few minutes after Stuart Armstrong's opened the scoring in the first half - while Bruno scored what proved to be an stunning winner after the break after Targett's corner was headed across goal by Burn.
None of the quartet were Newcastle players when the original fixture was due to be played, on January 2, before the game was rescheduled because of the number of COVID cases and injuries Eddie Howe's side had at the time. Hasenhuttl previously claimed that it was 'not fair' that the new signings were eligible to play in the rearranged fixture and the Southampton boss even went as far as to say the Saints were facing a 'completely different team' on the eve of this game.

Hasenhuttl was certainly not the only figure behind the scenes at Southampton to feel that way and, remarkably, the club's stadium announcer even played 'Dirty Cash', 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'Money, Money, Money' at half-time last night. However, when asked if he still felt strongly about Newcastle's mid-season arrivals being able to play, the Austrian chose not to revisit the matter after his side's defeat.
"It doesn't interest me today to be honest," Hasenhuttl simply told reporters.
