Ralph Hasenhuttl has downplayed reports touting him as the next Manchester United manager, insisting he ignores speculation over his future.
United are still on the hunt for their next permanent manager to be the long-term replacement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are hoping to have their man in place before the end of the season. However, that task is made harder by the fact that the leading contenders, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag, are both in high-profile jobs and competing for silverware.
As a result, plenty of potential alternatives have been linked with the Old Trafford hot seat in recent weeks and Southampton boss Hasenhuttl is one of them. The Austrian is having yet another good season with the Saints, who are currently ninth in the table, while playing attractive football.

The fact that Hasenhuttl has also worked alongside current interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who will move upstairs into a consultancy role at the end of the season, adds credence to the speculation. However, Hasenhuttl has insisted he hasn't given the reports much thought.
"When I discuss every list I have been on in the last two months, I would not have time anymore for working or doing my job," he said. "The only thing I can say is it shows that we don't do everything wrong here."
Football director John Murtough recently gave an update on United's manager search on the club's second-quarter investors' call. He said: "We are now conducting a thorough process for the appointment of a new permanent manager who will take charge this summer, with the objective to get us back to challenging for those domestic and European titles."
