Manchester United spent the January transfer window looking to offload some of the players deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
The two big names to wave goodbye to United in the mid-season window were Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek, with the former completing a loan move to Sevilla and the latter staying in the Premier League having completed a temporary switch to Everton.
Martial has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI this season and there's a real hope within the United fanbase that he can reignite his career in Spain.
Should he impress from now until the end of the season, United will either be able to welcome back a talented forward who's regained his confidence or they'll be able to command a loftier fee than if they'd tried to sell him in January.
Whereas Martial's United career has threatened to take off on a number of occasions since his move to Old Trafford in 2015, Van de Beek's United career has barely even started.
The Dutchman hasn't made an impact since signing 18 months ago and his lack of game time has seen fans grow arguably as frustrated as the player himself.
A spell at Goodison Park could be just what Van de Beek needs to kickstart his United career and finally show the Old Trafford faithful what he can do when he's afforded the chance.
With Martial and Van de Beek now no longer at Ralf Rangnick's disposal, the door has been opened for some of United's talented youngsters to make a name for themselves and one academy graduate could be about to do just that.
Hannibal Mejbri is a superstar in the making. The 19-year-old was left devastated after his Tunisia side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations by Burkina Faso, but he'll no doubt be buoyed by the news he could be a part of United's first-team plans when he returns to club duty.
Mejbri was understood to be attracting interest from a number of Championship clubs throughout January, though he could now be presented with the chance to show interim boss Rangnick just what he can do.
Signed for €10m (£8.3m) in 2019 from AS Monaco, Mejbri is one of United's brightest young stars and is already making waves on the international scene.
Operating as either a number 10 or as a winger on either flank, Mejbri's ability and versatility could prove key to United as they look to secure a place in the top four despite having seriously trimmed their squad in the January window.
Rangnick has already shown a willingness to allow youngsters the chance to thrive, with Anthony Elanga slotting into the first team seamlessly and having already opened his Premier League account for the season.
Everyone knows about United's marquee players but perhaps the highlight of the campaign so far has been the progress made by academy stars like Elanga.
Mejbri could be next to take the Premier League by storm.
