Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed he is likely to be without Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic for Sunday’s trip to Leeds United.
The experienced duo have missed both of the last two matches, with Cavani nursing a groin problem and Matic a shinbone injury.
Cavani is also reportedly experiencing some stomach issues and while both players have been back in training this week, it is unlikely either will feature at Elland Road.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rangnick said: “Matic is back in training for the first time in a while, might not be available for Leeds but he's back.
“As it seems, Edinson Cavani will still be out.”
Rangnick has also earmarked what his side must do on Sunday in order to stop Leeds from having any joy this weekend.
Former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversaw two comfortable victories in his three matches against the Whites as the Red Devils hit them hard with counter-attacks.
The 63-year-old believes that if Man United are able to prevent Leeds from playing at a high tempo, then they stand a good chance of earning all three points.
He said: “Leeds are a team that play with the highest amount of speed, so it's important for us not to allow them to play like that.
“Whenever they pass the ball they're trying to increase the tempo of the game, another thing they're very man-orientated.
“They play with the highest amount of speed momentum tempo, we need to stop them doing that. Equally they concede a lot, only Norwich have conceded more.
"We are well prepared to play for 90 minutes and stick to the game plan."
