Ralf Rangnick kept his cards close to his chest when asked about Manchester United's formation on Wednesday night.
Rangnick named Victor Lindelof in his starting line up to play Atletico Madrid and that decision caught a few by surprise.
With Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire all starting, it seemed United could be using three at the back.
However, UEFA's team sheet suggested United would start with a back four with Lindelof playing at right-back.
Rangnick didn't give much away when asked about his team selection.
"Yes, we decided to choose a line-up and a formation in which we could always react to what Atletico do," Rangnick told MUTV.
"We can play with different formations and change during the game, and still have enough physicality and also physical size for set pieces, whether they are for us or them."
Lindelof was excellent against Leeds at Elland Road at the weekend and earned wide praise for his performance.
