Rajkot couple suffers burn injuries in LPG cylinder blast

RAJKOT: A couple received burn injuries in a fire incident caused by leakage of gas from an LPG cylinder at housing aawas quarters on Jamnagar road in Rajkot on Friday morning.

The woman was critical while her husband sustained minor injuries.

According to police, there was a gas leakage in the cylinder for the entire night. When the victim, Madhu Parmar, (52) went to start gas in the morning, there was an explosion due to leakage and the house caught fire. Her husband, Dinesh who came to help her also suffered burns.

Dinesh said “I was sleeping in another room when I heard the explosion, so I went to see what happened. Then I found my wife struggling to save herself and went to save her in which I also received burns on my hand.”

The neighbours immediately informed 108 ambulance and fire brigade department and the couple was rushed to hospital.

According to doctors, the woman received 90 per cent burns and her condition was critical.

Neighbours said that the explosion was so powerful that all the doors, windows and household things got damaged.

The couple’s son was in the bathroom and he did not receive any injury.

According to sources, the regulator was outdated and there was a leakage because of it.
