Rajasthan defeat Pondicherry by 54 runs to register first win in BCCI Vinoo Mankad U-19 One-Day Trophy

JAIPUR: After a heart-breaking one-wicket defeat against formidable Mumbai in their opening match, Rajasthan bounced back strongly to register their first win in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy match at the Jamia Millia Islamia ground in New Delhi on Sunday.

Rajasthan trounced Pondicherry by 54 runs in their second Group B one-day match to notch up four points.

Skipper Kartik Sharma led from the front with an 89-ball 93 which was studded with 11 fours and four sixes. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kartik was ably supported by Parve Jhalani (37), Abhay Sharma (20), Toshit Bhatia and Aabhas Shrimali (19 each) as Rajasthan amassed 242 in 49.1 overs after opting to bat.

In reply, Pondicherry were bundled out for 188 in 43.2 overs. V Prajan Kumar (60), Arun Sarwan MK (37) and R Ragavan (32) fought hard for Pondicherry but could not prevent defeat for their team.

Aabhas Shrimali, Toshit Bhatia and Sachin Sharma took two wickets each, while Abhishek Moond and Lalit Sherawat chipped in with a wicket each.
