JAIPUR: Taking a major leap forward towards speeding up the construction of the new cricket stadium near Chonp village in Jaipur, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) signed an MoU with Vedanta's Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) for the first phase development at the SMS Stadium here on Thursday. HZL will invest 300 crore for the development of the world’s third-largest cricket stadium which will be named Anil Agarwal International Cricket Stadium, after Vedanta Resources Limited chairman.
The MoU was signed by RCA secretary Bhawani Shankar Samota and Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra. The stadium facilities will be spread across 100 acres and will have a seating capacity of over 75,000. Only Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium and Melbourne Cricket Ground have higher seating capacity. In terms of the size of the playing field, this stadium will be the largest in the world.
