Rajasthan: Child panel to hold awareness meets on crimes against kids

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (RSCPCR) will organise public awareness workshops at the district level in the state to create awareness among children and their parents about child crimes and allow them to express their views.

People will be taught how to register their complaints when such incidents occur. Also with the board examinations round the corner, the commission will also organise examination festival during which children will be able to talk to the experts about their issues.

Commission chairperson Sangeeta Beniwal said, “during my visits, I get complaints many times that due to lack of information people are not able to register their complaints at the right place and keeping this in mind, the commission has prepared a plan for public awareness workshop. During the pandemic, problems like mental stress in children came to the fore and board examinations are also due shortly. Children have studied online throughout the year and there are complaints of fear regarding offline examination because of which children are under stress. Keeping this in mind, the commission is going to organize the examination festival with the aim of relieving the pressure in children where they can consult the experts".

The commission in collaboration with NGOs including Save The Children and two others had launched Umeed helpline in January last year for children to deal with mental health issues following which in a matter of one year, they received approximately 4,000 calls from parents as well as children seeking help for problems like stress, anxiety, addiction to mobile phone, etc.
