RAIPUR: Capital police have lodged an FIR based on complaints of Chhattisgarh health minister TS Singhdeo against unidentified persons trying to cheat con the officials of minister’s department on his name via Whatsapp messages. Few officials in state financial taxes department started getting messages on whatsapp from unknown numbers having minister’s picture in the display. Acting like it was Singhdeo texting them, the senders asked the officials to get some “gift cards from Amazon” for them and that the amount will be reimbursed later during the day. The messages sent stated that “he” (minister) was in series of meetings and getting gift cards was important.
While the officials were replying obediently to the messages, it clicked to them it could be fraudsters and they immediately reported the matter to the minister’s office to confirm if the messages were being sent or if Singhdeo was even using those numbers. It was then confirmed that the messages were hoax and from fraudsters.
Singhdeo was informed and he reported the matter to Civil Lines police station.
Police lodged an FIR and checked the numbers 7976620188, 8369687927 that had Singhdeo’s picture as DP and account on his name.
The case was forwarded to Cyber Cell for prob.
