Districts in northern and eastern Bangkok and parts of adjacent Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani were again under water on Thursday afternoon after more torrential rain.

Traffic police radio and Jor Sor 100 traffic radio stations on Thursday warned motorists of traffic jams on Chaeng Wattana Road in Lak Si district due to flooding after non-stop afternoon rain.

Photos posted on social networks also showed flooded roads in Bang Khen, Klong Sam Wa, Lat Krabang, Don Mueang districts, while much of Bang Na district was also under water. Some locations in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan were also inundated.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said Lak Si reported the highest precipitation, 75 millimetres,  after only two hours of rain on Thursday. On Wednesday, neighbouring Bang Khen reported 170 millimetres of rain — the highest in 20 years.

Rangsit continued to be the hardest hit area in Pathum Thani as Klong Rangsit again looked set to overflow on Thursday.

Heavy rain was forecast in Bangkok and adjacent provinces at least until Friday.

Rain was forecast for 70-80% of the country.
