Rain gives Delhi a miss, temperature rises by 6 degrees celsius

NEW DELHI: With the rain intensity dropping significantly in Delhi on Monday, the maximum temperature soared by six degrees Celsius. The mercury is likely to rise further over the next two days. The city is unlikely to receive any rain before Thursday. Humidity levels may continue to remain high this week too.

According to India Meteorological Department, at Safdarjung, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.1 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average. Humidity levels oscillated between a maximum of 93% and minimum of 61%.

The maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday may hover around 36 degrees and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“The monsoon line of trough is currently hovering over central India and hence, there are hardly any chances of rain in Delhi over the next two days,” explained Mahesh Palawat, vice-chairman, Skymet.

Meanwhile, the air quality improved from the “moderate” category to “satisfactory”. The AQI was recorded at 84 as against 118 a day earlier. TNN
