Rain beats the heat, snarls make Delhi lose cool

NEW DELHI: The respite from the heat for Delhiites was tempered by the inconvenience caused by traffic snarls in various parts of the city. The heavy showers led to waterlogging in south, central and outer Delhi affecting traffic movement on Rao Tula Ram flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, ITO, Preet Vihar, ISBT and several other areas. Traffic police asked those driving to the airport or railway stations to consider the congestion and jams in their plans.

The Pul Prahladpur railway underpass was shut for vehicular movement owing to waterlogging. Last year, a man drowned to death there while taking a selfie. The police had barricaded the area and diverted the traffic movement. Traffic was also affected at Sarita Vihar, Badarpur, Hauz Khas and Vasant Vihar in south Delhi. Traffic jams were reported from Ring Road near Jeevan Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, Saket and Khanpur in the evening.
