Disaster support for flooded east coast

There were 500 flood rescues and 927 requests for help in 24 hours in northern NSW. (AAP)

Flooding rains continue to lash a long stretch of Australia's east coast, with the death toll rising to eight and at least three people missing.

There are also warnings the inundation may continue for days as the weather system heads south.
