Raiders TE Foster Moreau could be in for a big role in 2022

A lot has been made about all the additions the Raiders have made on offense this year and for good reason. Davante Adams is a superstar who should help completely change the offense for the better.

Plus, the team is getting back a healthy Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow has now firmly established himself as one of the best slot receivers in the league.

However, one player that hasn’t been discussed enough is Foster Moreau, who could stand to greatly benefit with the new head coach. Moreau played over 1,000 total snaps last year, catching 30 passes for 373 yards.

In a recent article by Ted Nyugen of The Athletic, he wrote about Moreau and why he could have an even bigger role in the offense this season. Here is a snippet of his thoughts on the fourth-year tight end from LSU:

“The Raiders’ best personnel grouping could be their 12 personnel with second tight end Foster Moreau. In his first season back after tearing his ACL, he didn’t quite look like himself but still had 379 receiving yards.

McDaniels has had success implementing two tight end sets in the past with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. I have a feeling we’ll see a lot of 12 personnel next season.”

Moreau played a lot last year due to Waller missing time with an injury. However, Moreau could see even more snaps on offense this year as a blocker and maybe as a receiver. We know that he is highly athletic and he has become a more dependable receiver over the last few seasons.

With the Raiders likely running a ton of 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends), Moreau should see a ton of action. And considering he is a better blocker than Waller, look for him to line up in the backfield as a fullback, H-back and occsianlly out-wide or in the slot.

Moreau will wear a lot of hats on offense for the Raiders and he will be a key player for them during the 2022 season.
