The Raiders earned an impressive win in Week 1, upsetting the Broncos 17-16. It was a gritty game on both sides as both teams leaned on their running games and their defense to keep the contest close.
One of the stars of the game was Josh Jacobs, who got a ton of work in his first game back with the team. While his stats weren’t overwhelming, he did a fantastic job of keeping the chains moving.
Buy Raiders TicketsIn a recent article by Pro Football Focus, they discussed every team’s most interesting stat coming out of Week 1. For the Raiders, it was that Jacobs forced the most missed tackles in Week 1 with five. Here is a snippet of what they had to say about the All-Pro back for the Raiders:
No player broke or forced as many missed tackles in Week 1 as Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. He forced five whiffs as a runner and two as a receiver as he looks to retain his “tackle breaker” title from 2022.
Jacobs led the NFL in missed tackles forced in 2022 and was second in 2021. He’s always excelled when it comes to breaking tackles as that’s the reason he was selected in Round 1 by the Raiders. So it shouldn’t be surprising that he led the league in Week 1 in missed tackles forced.
If the Raiders want to stay competitive this season, they are going to need Jacobs to have another fantastic season. And after one week, so far, so good for the former first-round pick from Alabama.
