The Raiders continue filling out their coaching staff. New offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has named his QB coach. He is former 49ers QB coach and Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

The onetime #Broncos OC most recently was helping Caleb Williams with pre-draft prep. Now, Scangarello returns to the AFC West, and joins a team in the market for a young QB … pic.twitter.com/fcbxFMDcdr

It’s an interesting side note that Scangarello was recently helping to prepare top draft prospect Caleb Williams. Considering the Raiders are in the market for a quarterback and could very well look to jump up in the draft to get one. Though if they want Williams, it would likely mean they’d have to trade all the way from 13 to number one overall.
Scangarello’s first job as a QB coach in the NFL came with the 49ers in in 2017-18. Since then he’s had one-year stints as offensive coordinator with the Broncos in 2019, a senior assistant with the Eagles in 2020, back as a QB coach with the 49ers in 2021, and last season as the OC and QB coach at Kentucky.
It’s tough to really judge Scangarello by his track record. Considering his quarterbacks as either a QB coach or OC have been Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Mullens, Jimmy G again, Joe Flacco, Drew Lock, and Brandon Allen.
