Raiders-Chiefs was the most watched NFL game on Christmas since 1989 because love is real

In what’s surely going to be the coincidence of the holiday season, CBS Sports shared on Tuesday that Raiders-Chiefs delivered the biggest Christmas Day ratings since 1989.

Why is that significant? Well, musician Taylor Swift attended Monday’s Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, who she’s been dating as of late.

It’s very likely Swift’s attendance helped bring in some viewers, and this game being the biggest Christmas Day game since 1989 immediately reminds you that, oh yes, one of Swift’s biggest albums was called 1989.

You can’t make this up; the Swift connections are real.

If you’re a Swiftie, this has to be one of the coolest coincidences you’ve seen lately.

The Swift effect on NFL viewership is real, and as long as she’s going to Chiefs games, we’re guessing we’ll keep seeing high ratings across the board. Who knows, maybe more of these coincidences will pop up in the future.
