In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, they ranked the top 100 free agents expected to hit the market next month. That list included Rock Ya-Sin (No. 40), who the Raiders traded Yannick Ngakoue for last offseason.
Ya-Sin had an up-and-down year, but he was mostly good when he was able to stay on the field. That has been a bit of a problem for him over the last few years, but it shouldn’t really impact his status in free agency.
But how much will Ya-Sin earn in free agency? According to Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus, he can expect to earn around $9 million per season. Here are his thoughts on Ya-Sin entering the free agent market:
“Working in his favor is the fact he’s effectively the only other young, pure outside cornerback hitting the market this offseason besides Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean.
Over the past two seasons, Ya-Sin’s 74.4 coverage grade when lined up out wide ranks 27th and his 70.9 coverage grade in press coverage looks ranks 23rd. Ya-Sin’s 18.2% forced incompletion percentage line up out wide ranks 19th, and his 0.67 yards per coverage snap ranks fifth.”
The Raiders would love to have Ya-Sin back next year as he and Nate Hobbs are a pretty good duo in the secondary. But they might not be willing to pay that much for a player that has a had time staying on the field.
Regardless, expect the Raiders to be in the free-agent cornerback market next month as they have to add talent and depth to the position this offseason.
