It’s no secret that the Raiders want to improve their offensive line this offseason. They want to get bigger and stronger so they can win the line of scrimmage. However, to do that, they need to spend more resources on their offensive line.
Sitting at pick No. 13, the Raiders could have several quality offensive linemen fall into their laps. But which one would make the most sense in a Luke Getsy offense?
In a recent mock draft done by Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus, he had the Raiders addressing their offensive line need by selecting JC Latham from Alabama in Round 1. Here is why he believes Latham would be an excellent fit in Las Vegas:
Former Raiders right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor signed with the New York Giants in free agency, and they have questions at right guard, too. Latham is a strong, bruising right tackle who got the better of Michigan defensive tackle Kris Jenkins — one of the strongest players in program history — a few times in the College Football Playoff.
There is room for Latham to grow as a pass protector, with some choppy and heavy footwork in his pass sets, but he’s a brick wall when in the right position.
The Raiders want to play “bully ball,” and to do that, they need an offensive line that can push defenders around. Adding Latham and starting him at right tackle would be a step in the right direction.
