Those who think running backs are no longer a key part of offenses should check with Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel.
In Sunday’s 70-20 destruction of the Denver Broncos, Miami RBs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane each accounted for 4 touchdowns.
That is 8 combined TDs from a pair of running backs.
Begged the question of whether it had happened before.
It did, once.
Raheem Mostert (@RMos_8Ball) and De’Von Achane (@ffvmousvon_) became the 2nd pair of teammates in @NFL history to each record 4 touchdowns in the same game.
They join Priest Holmes & Derrick Blaylock, who each scored 4 TDs for the Chiefs on 10/24/04.

In the Chiefs’ 56-10 win over the Falcons in 2004, Holmes rushed for 139 yards and four scores.
Blaylock had three of his four scores in the second half while rushing for 90 yards.
Against the Broncos, Achane had 203 rushing yards and 30 receiving. He scored twice by rush and twice by reception.
DeVon Achane ran for more yards today than any Miami Dolphins running back cumulatively ran for as their entire 2019 season total. ☠️ pic.twitter.com/NBwLPTL9M5

Mostert had 82 rushing yards and 3 TDs on the ground. He also had 7 catches for 60 yards and a TD.
If you are counting, that’s 375 yards of total offense and 8 TDs from running backs.
