Fizzing Gary Neville hit out at Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes over his behaviour during Sunday's 7-0 beating at the hands of rivals Liverpool.
Erik Ten Hag's side folded with Jurgen Klopp's men scoring six times in the second half to extinguish United's slim title hopes. And three of their goals came in a seven-minute spell either side of half-time which left the visitors, who have not won on this ground since Klopp's first encounter with them in January 2016, reeling.
The former Manchester United right-back fumed at Fernandes after he went down holding his face after Konate's elbow struck his chest. Neville said on Sky Sports commentary: "There was a VAR check for an elbow - it was on his chest. Oh, he holds his face. That's embarrassing from Bruno Fernandes." His criticism of the Portuguese midfielder did not end there as he raged with the goals flowing for Liverpool.
Ten Hag made a substitution after the sixth goal and Fernandes was spotted asking the manager to come off. Neville reacted by saying: "Bruno Fernandes is stood in the centre circle with his arms raised saying 'why is not me coming off?'. I have to say I think some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace. I think he's been brilliant for Manchester United at times with his assists and goals.
"The second-half has been an absolute disgrace, a shambles. They have not been epitomised more than Bruno Fernandes, who has been embarrassing - a shambles - in this game."
