Rage Against the Machine is raging against the Supreme Court.
The rock band slammed the Roe v. Wade overturn with a scathing video message that aired during its concert in Wisconsin on Saturday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Forced birth in a country that is the only wealthy country in the world without any guaranteed paid parental leave at the national level,” the message began.
“Forced birth in a country where Black birth-givers experience maternal mortality two to three times higher than that of white birth-givers.
“Forced birth in a country where gun violence is the number one cause of death among children and teenagers.
“ABORT THE SUPREME COURT,” the message concluded.
The concert, which was the band’s first in 11 years, took place a little over two weeks after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, ending the federal right to get an abortion.
Rage Against the Machine is the latest musical act to devote part of a concert to condemning the overturn. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said at a show in London last month that he was “renouncing” his U.S. citizenship, saying, “There’s too much f---king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f---king excuse for a country.”
And Olivia Rodrigo told the audience at the Glastonbury festival in England that she was “devastated and terrified” by the ruling, before playing the song “F---k You” with Lily Allen.
